“The Restorer’s Cave” is an experimental study exploring material transformation as a geochemical conservation process. The project examines calthemite precipitation on architectural substrates as a naturally developed mineral layer with potential protective properties. Grounded in the principles of biomimetics, it investigates how mineralization processes observed in nature can inform sustainable heritage preservation strategies.

The research seeks to understand how environmental parameters –  such as humidity, pH, and CO₂ concentration – influence carbonate deposition and surface stabilization. Ultimately, it aims to propose an ecologically integrated conservation framework that works with, rather than against, natural material evolution.
